We built PlateRotate to be useful, not to harvest your data. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why. No legalese — just plain English.
What We Collect
We collect the minimum possible to run the service:
- Meal text — when you convert a meal, the text you enter is sent to the Claude Haiku API (operated by Anthropic) to generate your conversion. We do not store this text on our servers after it is processed.
- Email address (optional) — if you enter your email on the download page or iOS waitlist, we record it for that purpose only. We do not add you to marketing lists without your explicit consent.
- Payment information — if you subscribe to Basic or Pro, your payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or any other payment details.
What We Don't Collect
- No account is required to use PlateRotate.
- No tracking pixels or behavioral analytics.
- No device identifiers or advertising IDs.
- No location data.
- No browsing history or cross-site tracking.
Your meal history, favorites, and settings are stored locally on your device using SQLite. They never leave your phone.
Third-Party Services
PlateRotate uses three external services to function:
- Anthropic (Claude Haiku API) — processes your meal text to generate diet conversions. Requests are routed through our own server (hosted on Railway) before reaching Anthropic; we do not log or store request content. Anthropic's data handling is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments for Basic and Pro plans. Stripe's data handling is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Netlify — hosts this website. Standard web server logs (IP address, request time) may be recorded by Netlify per their policies.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other behavioral tracking tools.
Your Data
On your device: Your conversion history, saved favorites, diet selection, and allergen settings are stored locally on your phone. This data is never uploaded to our servers. Uninstalling the app removes it.
Email addresses: If you provide an email for the download or iOS waitlist, it is used only for that purpose. We do not sell, rent, or share email addresses with third parties for marketing.
Subscriptions: If you subscribe, Stripe stores your billing information securely. We store only your subscription tier (free, basic, or pro) on your device so the app knows which features to unlock.
No data is sold. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party for any purpose.
